German for Doctors: FSP Preparation Course for the German Medical Language Exam of the Medical Association

Have you studied medicine abroad and want to work as a doctor in Germany? To obtain a medical license in Germany (Approbation), international doctors must successfully pass the German medical language examination “Fachsprachprüfung (FSP)” at the Medical Association.

A key requirement for passing the Fachsprachprüfung for doctors is a strong command of Medical German at B2–C1 level, with a particular focus on medical terminology, professional communication, and doctor–patient interaction.

Our FSP preparation course for Medical German (Fachsprachprüfung) is designed for international doctors and physicians with a B2–C1 level of German who wish to obtain Approbation and practice medicine in Germany. The course focuses on exam-relevant medical topics and the language skills required in clinical practice.

Passing the German medical language examination (Fachsprachprüfung) is a mandatory requirement for the recognition of a foreign medical degree and for obtaining a medical license in Germany.

Topics of the FSP Preparation Course for International Physicians and Doctors

The FSP preparation course for international physicians offers authentic medical examination scenarios and specialized Medical German training for the Fachsprachprüfung (FSP). The course systematically develops all four German language skills required for the exam and for clinical practice in Germany: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing in Medical German.

Participants train exam-relevant medical vocabulary and professional communication skills, including doctor–patient conversations, communication with relatives, and interprofessional communication between doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff. Further course content includes medical history taking (anamnesis), writing clinical and medical reports, professional argumentation and negotiations, and the precise use of medical terminology required to successfully pass the German medical language examination (Fachsprachprüfung). Official telc final exam on request.

• Format: Hybrid medical German course (on-site and online)
• Duration: 8 weeks intensive training

• Weeks 1–4:
  Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00–2:30 pm
  Medical German classes on-site or online
• Weeks 5–8:
  Monday to Thursday, 4 lessons per day, 1:00–4:15 pm
  On-site Medical German training strongly recommended; online participation possible upon prior agreement

• 120 online Medical German lessons via Learning Management System (LMS)
