GoAcademy! Language School Düsseldorf – International House has been one of Europe’s leading language schools since 1990 and is a licensed test and examination center for international language certificates.

In addition to language courses for individuals, professionals, and companies, we offer exam preparation courses and educational leave (Bildungsurlaub) programs in Düsseldorf and abroad.

We are also AZAV-accredited as an approved provider of further education programs, including educational leave (Bildungsurlaub).

The Beginning: An idea inspired by an intercultural family

Our language school is deeply rooted in the values, passion, and vision of a true family business. What is now a well-established institution for modern language learning began in September 1990, inspired by the founders' own intercultural family life.

The school was founded by the German-French couple Michael Rönitz and Catherine Thellier. As parents of three sons, they experienced firsthand how essential language skills are for education, personal growth, and professional success.

Driven by this experience, Michael Rönitz – who holds a degree in Educational Science (Diplom-Pädagoge) – developed an innovative teaching concept. By combining foundational insights from sociology, psychology, and philosophy with practical teaching methods, his approach prioritizes the individual needs of learners and ensures sustainable results. Ultimately, language is the key to natural communication, successful integration, and broader career opportunities. 

While Michael Rönitz continues to lead the school as its director today, his three sons are already actively involved in managing the family business, ensuring its core values and continuity carry forward into the future.

Born from this family vision, GoAcademy! has grown into a vibrant international meeting place in the heart of Düsseldorf. Today, we combine high-quality language instruction with a motivating learning environment. As one of the leading language schools in Düsseldorf, throughout North Rhine-Westphalia, and across Germany, we offer targeted courses in German, English, Spanish, French, and Italian—available with full flexibility both online and in person.
