IELTS is the abbreviation for "International English Language Testing System" and examines the full range of your English skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking. The test is tailored to how you use the English language in your new living environment abroad, at university, at work and at leisure.

IELTS is a globally recognized test of English language proficiency. More than 7,000 educational institutions, state institutions and organizations in 135 countries recognize IELTS results as a mandatory language certificate for English - more than 3,000 in the US alone.

Three highly respected educational institutions work together to develop and conduct the test.

In the UK, IELTS is recognized by all universities and colleges, as well as institutions in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and many other countries around the world. This makes IELTS one of the most widely used English tests in the world.

Our exam preparation exam for the IELTS certificate is aimed at adults who need English in their social and professional lives or studies, and who also wish to prove their language skills.

The communicative didactics of our English courses also train basic language skills such as pronunciation, intonation, language rhythm and grammar.

IELTS examination courses prepare you effectively by subject-specific examination-related topics by addressing situations from the student or professional everyday life and the language competence in the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing are trained.

The IELTS exam takes place centrally on specified dates. You can take the exam after your exam course in Canada or at the British Council in Düsseldorf.

In Germany, the British Council offers IELTS exam in the following 14 cities in Germany: Aachen, Berlin, Bremen, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Mannheim, Munich and Stuttgart.

IELTS is offered in two different trial versions targeting different user groups:

• IELTS Academic: This test is mainly taken by students who want to study at a university in English-speaking countries or English at a German university.
• IELTS Academic: This test is mainly taken by students who want to study at a university in English-speaking countries or English at a German university.

In the IELTS examinations, four areas are reviewed. All parts of the examination usually take place on the same day, but if not, the oral part (interview) will take place on another day.

The examination results can be viewed online 13 days after the examination. At the same time, a certificate (IELTS Test Report Form) will be sent to you by post. The test results are valid for two years.
