Understanding the A1 Language Level
The A1 level is the first stage of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and is aimed at beginners. With the telc German A1 certificate, you can prove that you can:
- Communicate in simple everyday situations
- Master basic vocabulary and simple grammar
- Conduct short conversations on topics such as introductions, family, shopping, food, and housing
- Ask and answer simple questions

The written telc A1 exam takes approximately 65 minutes. The oral exam follows immediately afterward and lasts about 11–15 minutes per person.
